Where to report a crypto scam
Reporting cryptocurrency fraud is free everywhere. The complication is that most countries have several channels and they do very different things — some can start a police investigation, others only collect intelligence and will never respond to you. Filing with the wrong one alone means nothing happens. Pick your country below.
Why the distinction matters
Australia is the clearest example. A report to Scamwatch feeds national scam intelligence, but it is not a police report and the team cannot respond to individual reports. The channel that leads to an investigation is ReportCyber. Someone who files only with Scamwatch may reasonably believe they have reported the crime to police when no police process has begun.
Similar splits exist elsewhere: the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre does not investigate individual cases, and the FTC in the United States collects for a database rather than responding to you. Every page here labels each channel by what it actually does.
